Mmmmmm…..Chocolate!

My little one loves chocolate. It’s one of the few words he can say clearly enough for others to understand. I taught him that. He also loves cake. A lot. I taught him that, too. Hence my new obsession with exercise. I’ve even blogged about his cake escapades in the past. I think he likes the fact that he can have all of that chocolaty and sugary goodness without chewing. He doesn’t like to chew. He prefers to bite and swallow. Can you say Heimlich Maneuver?? I have had lots of practice. Have you ever seen a child swallow a 2 inch long Cheeto without chewing? Scary…

Speaking of the Heimlich Maneuver…earlier this week my husband and little one tagged along while I went for a walk. It was raining (again) so we went to our church so I could walk on the indoor track. Dear husband and little one were hanging out downstairs in the gym. Someone (Ahem…DADDY) decided to give the little one a couple of Lifesaver candies, which he immediately popped into his mouth. And swallowed. And choked. I morphed into Super Mom, took a shortcut through the choir loft and down the main stage onto the gym floor (our church has a multi-purpose sanctuary), swooped the little one up and performed the Heimlich Maneuver. Then I went to the restroom for water and paper towels to clean up the stickiness. Then I went back up to finish my walk. It’s just a part of my life, ya’ll.

So, where was I? Cake. And chocolate. My little one especially loves chocolate cake. I happened to make some chocolate cupcakes yesterday and I was able to get some great photos. I’m posting these for my FIAR friend, Ronette, who blogs at Live Laugh Learn. She recently had to give up chocolate for medical reasons (the HORROR!) and I promised that Eli would eat some chocolate for her.

He also has a tendency to over-fill, or pack, his mouth. As I’m sure you just noticed. He is getting better about eating, though. I think he’d be happy if every meal consisted of chocolate cake. But you probably already came to that conclusion, too.
